Epsom Downs Wednesday 1 July 2026 – V15 Overlay Blog | Tactical Forecasts + Smart Stats Integration
Epsom Downs V15 Early Doors tactical overlay uses smart stats, AU figs and caution markers to frame structure, not a tipping service. Stumpy’s next project is now clear: testing structured Betfair Sportsbook 15-doubles using the V15 Win Picks as the core pool. The aim is not recovery chasing — it's disciplined quarter-by-quarter learning, fixed stakes, and better filtering before the slip is built.

Note from Coldjack — V15 Review. After a 12 month wild ride, the experiment will continue during 2026. The results are in — and they’ve confirmed what the data hinted at all along: GPT ED V15 predictions are risky "boom or bust" territory. 📘 V15 Acronyms & Overlays — Explained
• AU fig – Algorithmic Utility figure — core structural rating built from the uploaded race layers, combining form, pace, market shape and supported caution signals.
• AU proxy – BRITISH-layer structural proxy used when no direct AU fig is isolated — built from panel agreement, form, suitability, pace or market compression from the uploaded card.
• BFEX – Betfair Exchange snapshot — optional whole-card exchange Market Trust layer used to evidence live support, weakness, spread quality, matched volume, traded confidence, gappy pricing, non-runner disruption and exchange caution. BFEX does not replace AU hierarchy, does not create Win Picks by price alone, and does not override the Oddschecker baseline unless explicitly instructed.
• H4C – Horses for Courses — runner with proven course form or direct course suitability evidence from the uploaded layers.
• R2W – Rated to Win — named panel driver used as a primary AU support layer where explicitly evidenced in the uploaded data.
• TJ&T – Trainer, Jockey & Track synergy — linked marker used only where jockey and trainer support is evidenced in Smart Stats and course evidence is present for the same runner.
• Smart Stats – Uploaded tactical stat overlays covering hot and cold jockeys, hot and cold trainers, beaten favourites, headgear, class droppers, stable switchers, weighted-to-win runners and favourite strike rate.
• V15-S – Structured forecast overlay — the 3-runner Exacta/Trifecta structure built around Anchor + 2 Partners.
• Forecast Combo – The tactical Win Pick + Partner A + Partner B structure used for forecast and TOTE alignment.
• Caution Marker – Runner flagged as a structural risk only where directly evidenced in the uploaded layers, including beaten favourite last time out, first-time headgear, class-drop volatility, stable switch, cold jockey, cold trainer, or market weakness versus AU.

📝 Critique & Debrief | Epsom Downs – Wednesday 1 July 2026
💷 Structured Bets Critique & Learning Points
The structured double bet returned £2.85 from a £4.50 stake.
The bet contained six win selections:
Hello Cotai — Lost
Amazing Journey — Lost
Arcturus Flame — Lost
Sarangpur — Won
Just Adair — Lost
Utmost Good Faith — Won
Only Sarangpur and Utmost Good Faith won. The return came from that single successful double line.
Structurally, Sarangpur held cleanly as the strongest outcome from the card. Utmost Good Faith also confirmed that the Race 7 structure had the winner inside the declared forecast/TOTE partners, but not in the Win Pick slot.
The main structural failure was Win Pick conversion. Several races retained the right horses around the frame but failed to anchor the winner. Race 5 was the cleanest execution: Win Pick won, Partner A finished second, and the win-pick-anchored Exacta landed.
The model integrity remains separate from the betting outcome. The structure found multiple placed components, but the win-first layer underperformed outside Race 5.
🏁 Race-by-Race Breakdown
Race 1 – 17:20 Epsom Downs
Pre-race V15 forecast:
Imperial Cult → Hello Cotai / Oj Lifestyle
Result:
1st Super Hit
2nd Haveagobeau
3rd Hello Cotai
4th Imperial Cult
Win Pick Imperial Cult finished 4th. Hello Cotai placed 3rd as a forecast partner. Oj Lifestyle did not place.
Exacta = FAILED
Boxed Trifecta = FAILED
Structural read:
The race failed at anchor level. One partner reached the frame, but the Win Pick did not win and the forecast structure did not capture the first two or all three frame positions.
Race 2 – 17:50 Epsom Downs
Pre-race V15 forecast:
Shemiyla Star → Wise And Wonderful / Bullrider
Result:
1st Wise And Wonderful
2nd Bullrider
3rd Mojito Madness
4th Shemiyla Star
Win Pick Shemiyla Star finished 4th. Wise And Wonderful won. Bullrider finished 2nd.
Exacta = FAILED
Boxed Trifecta = FAILED
Structural read:
The forecast partners held strongly, filling 1st and 2nd, but the Win Pick failed. This was a partner-led result rather than a V15 anchor success.
Race 3 – 18:22 Epsom Downs
Pre-race V15 forecast:
Amazing Journey → Dream Composer / Havana Rum
Result:
1st Sir Garfield
2nd Amazing Journey
3rd Havana Rum
4th Desert Cop
Win Pick Amazing Journey finished 2nd. Havana Rum finished 3rd. Dream Composer did not place.
Exacta = FAILED
Boxed Trifecta = FAILED
Structural read:
The Win Pick ran into the frame but did not win. Havana Rum supported the structure in 3rd, but the missing partner and beaten anchor made both Exacta and Trifecta fail.
Race 4 – 18:57 Epsom Downs
Pre-race V15 forecast:
Alma Latina → Arcturus Flame / Central Command
Result:
1st Timber Twelve
2nd Tabasko
3rd Alma Latina
4th Double Red
Win Pick Alma Latina finished 3rd. Arcturus Flame did not place. Central Command did not place.
Exacta = FAILED
Boxed Trifecta = FAILED
Structural read:
The anchor reached the frame but failed to win. The forecast partners did not support the result, so the structure broke both at ordering and partner level.
Race 5 – 19:32 Epsom Downs
Pre-race V15 forecast:
Sarangpur → Stintino Sunset / Dissident
Result:
1st Sarangpur
2nd Stintino Sunset
3rd Panthere Noir
4th Dissident
Win Pick Sarangpur won. Partner A Stintino Sunset finished 2nd. Partner B Dissident finished 4th.
Exacta = LANDED
TOTE Exacta: £5.30 (P/L: +£3.30)
Boxed Trifecta = FAILED
Structural read:
This was the clean structural hit on the card. The Win Pick won, the correct partner finished 2nd, and the Exacta landed under the win-pick-anchored rule. The Trifecta failed because Dissident finished 4th and not all three forecast runners filled the top three.
Race 6 – 20:07 Epsom Downs
Pre-race V15 forecast:
Just Adair → Nymphaea / Ricardo Phillips
Result:
1st Naranka
2nd Just Adair
3rd Ricardo Phillips
4th Gearing's Point
Win Pick Just Adair finished 2nd. Ricardo Phillips finished 3rd. Nymphaea did not place.
Exacta = FAILED
Boxed Trifecta = FAILED
Structural read:
The anchor again placed but failed to win. Ricardo Phillips supported the frame, but the winning slot was missed and the full three-runner boxed structure did not land.
Race 7 – 20:42 Epsom Downs
Pre-race V15 forecast:
Mission Command → Bell Shot / Utmost Good Faith
Result:
1st Utmost Good Faith
2nd Sporting Light
3rd Bell Shot
4th Padua
Win Pick Mission Command was unplaced. Utmost Good Faith won as Partner B. Bell Shot finished 3rd as Partner A.
Exacta = FAILED
Boxed Trifecta = FAILED
Structural read:
The race held partially through the partner layer, with the winner and third both inside the forecast structure. The failure was anchor selection, because Mission Command did not win or place.
📉 Cumulative Outcome Analysis
Structured bet stake: £4.50
Structured bet return: £2.85
Net result: -£1.65
V15 Win Picks:
Race 1: Imperial Cult — Lost
Race 2: Shemiyla Star — Lost
Race 3: Amazing Journey — Lost
Race 4: Alma Latina — Lost
Race 5: Sarangpur — Won
Race 6: Just Adair — Lost
Race 7: Mission Command — Lost

1 from 7
Exacta outcomes:
Race 1: Failed
Race 2: Failed
Race 3: Failed
Race 4: Failed
Race 5: Landed
Race 6: Failed
Race 7: Failed
Boxed Trifecta outcomes:
Race 1: Failed
Race 2: Failed
Race 3: Failed
Race 4: Failed
Race 5: Failed
Race 6: Failed
Race 7: Failed
Only Race 5 produced a valid TOTE return under the locked rules.
The day showed repeated frame proximity but weak winner conversion. Race 2 and Race 7 were the clearest examples of the structure finding live runners without correctly assigning the anchor. Race 5 was the clean model-positive result.
🔧 Model Reflection & Refinement Notes
The strongest refinement point is anchor discipline. The card repeatedly found horses capable of placing or winning, but too often placed the eventual winner into the partner layer or missed it entirely.
Race 5 confirms the method works when AU leadership, market structure, and low caution exposure align cleanly around the Win Pick.
Race 2 and Race 7 expose the need to treat strong partner evidence more aggressively where the Win Pick carries less practical race-winning certainty than the surrounding structure suggests.
Race 6 also shows the beaten-favourite caution was relevant: Just Adair held enough structure to place but did not convert.
No hindsight repair should be applied. The pre-race structure remains auditable, but the day grades as a mixed structural card with one clean Exacta hit, several frame-adjacent reads, and insufficient Win Pick conversion.

🚩 Impulse Betting Caution Notes
The danger point is exactly what AJ identified: impulse bets near the off.
That usually comes from one of these traps:
“I’ve done all this work, so I need to back something.”
“The market is moving — I’ll miss it.”
“I liked this horse earlier, so I’ll force it.”
“I passed two races already, so I need one now.”
That is where bankroll discipline gets tested for real.
Your edge is not in having an opinion on every race.
Your edge is in acting only when the structure still holds at decision time.

Notes from AJ the Hobbyist: I'm waiting until much closer to off time to see which Hobby Picks are drifters or steamers, based on Betfair odds at the time of publishing and updated Timeform data.
Key Reminders:
Parading: Look for calm, focused horses with a good walk—avoid those sweating excessively or agitated.
Going Down: Smooth, controlled canter = positive. Overly keen or reluctant = caution.
At the Post: Composed behaviour signals readiness; restlessness, rearing, or sweating could be negatives.
Odds Market Sentiment:
Steamers (shortening odds): Positive market confidence, but watch for overbet favourites.
Drifters (lengthening odds): Could signal trainer/jockey concerns—or just market overreaction, offering value.
Keep emotions out—trust the data, the visuals, and the odds shifts. 🎯
We’re trialling this approach across UK, Irish, Aussie and U.S. horse racing to see where it offers the most value. Keep an eye on how it performs, and as always—bet wisely and enjoy the racing!🏇🔥

🧾 EARLY DOORS & M37cal GLOSSARY
📘 UPDATED GLOSSARY – EARLY DOORS & M37cal SYSTEMS (Incl. V15 Model)
What do all these ratings mean? Here’s your decoded glossary with all V15 Early Doors additions and tactical terminology explained.
📘 V15 Acronyms & Overlays — Explained
• AU fig – Algorithmic Utility figure — core structural rating combining form, pace, market overlays, gear changes.
• H4C – Horses for Courses — runner with proven course form (e.g. multiple wins/places at today's track).
• R2W – Rated to Win — third-party score (often from Aussie sources) validating a win-capable profile.
• TJ&T – Trainer, Jockey & Track synergy — flags powerful combos (e.g. Mulrennan at Newcastle, Loughnane at Wolverhampton).
• Smart Stats – Tactical stat overlays from Timeform (trainer/jockey cold streaks, surface bias, win %.).
• V15-S – Structured forecast overlay — the 3-runner box used for Exacta/Trifecta with Anchor + 2 Partners.
• Forecast Combo – The tactical 1–2–3 runners for place/swing coverage (not just win tips).
• Caution Marker – Runner flagged as an overlay risk due to gear failure, drift, pace mismatch, or cold stable.

🧠 Tactical Flags
Pace Cluster – Multiple horses vying for the lead; can cause collapses
Slipstream Draw – Favoured position behind early speed; ideal for late closers
Surge – Exceptional late-race acceleration; fig that often wins with timing
Fig Tension – 3+ horses rated closely; outcome risk increases
Value Chaos – Race where many overlays exist but fig margins are tight; potentially lucrative, but volatile
🟢 NEW: V15 EARLY DOORS MODEL TERMINOLOGY
V15-S (Swinger Forecast) – Structured 3-horse bet per race:
▪ Anchor = Primary fig/tactical pick
▪ Partners = Two supportive selections with place/forecast valueForecast Combo – Straight forecast recommendations using top model picks
Tactical Forecast – Overall read of race shape: lead types, closers, bias implications
Caution Marker – Horses flagged due to form, market drift, setup, or draw risks (might WIN)
🧠 M37cal-Only Concepts (Long-game angles)
Fig Strain – A top-rated runner showing deeper profile weaknesses (trip, surface, tempo)
Game Tree Tension – Race scenario with 2+ potential tactical outcomes
Board Flip – One disruptive runner could reshape the whole race logic
